A German as a coach of the “Three Lions”? The English fans still have to get used to this. But the result in the first game will help you.

Thomas Tuchel celebrated a successful debut as a coach of the English national team. In the World Cup qualification, his team won 2-0 (1-0) against Albania.

The 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly in the 20th minute and Harry Kane (77th) provided the goals in the London Wembley Stadium. While Lewis-Skelly is under contract with Arsenal FC, Kane plays at Bayern.

Before the game, Tuchel was greeted by the fans with a large banner at which “welcome to the home of football, Thomas” was read. The 51-year-old had announced that he wanted to play attractive football with his team. At least in the initial phase, however, this was a long time coming.

England dominated the game right from the start, but struggled against deep Albanians to earn clear opportunities. The first good option finally exploited Lewis Skelly, who, together with Dan Burn from Newcastle United, was a international match debut in the starting eleven. According to the presentation of real Madrid professional Jude Bellingham, the Youngster scored the lead.

Albania remained harmless. England’s captain Kane brought the decision in the second half after a flank from Declan Rice.
