The personnel Thomas Müller remains evident at Bayern. The club icon is not in the starting eleven against Inter. The trainer justifies this tactically.
But here too there was a disappointment for the 35-year-old: Bavaria’s coach Vincent Kompany chose Raphaël Guerreiro as a central offensive midfielder.
Instead of nostalgia and emotion, the trainer was primarily guided by tactical considerations and the last games. “My focus is only on what we do to win this game. The last time Rapha played in this position (against Bochum, editor’s note) and scored two goals. That is a position he knows. Hopefully he also gives us something extra,” said Kompany before kick -off in the interview with Amazon Prime.
Müller is sitting on the bench. Its 162. Use in the Champions League is therefore still possible in the quarter-final first leg against Inter Milan.
