A inhumane advertisement in the Official Journal of the Saxon city of Sebnitz ensures outrage. A local roofing company had promised an apprenticeship there – but excluded certain people who were described with anti -Semitic, racist and discriminatory terms.
The city administration distanced itself from the “advertisement with a contemptuous and xenophobic content”. «Reading something like this is shameful and intolerable. We are also dismayed and are currently trying to educate the situation, »wrote the administration on Facebook. “We only found out when we held the print edition in our hands,” said Mayor Ronald Kretzschmar (independent) of the German Press Agency.
City administration condemned incident
The city of Sebnitz is only responsible for the editorial part of the “Grenzblatt” – as the Official Journal – is called and also do not know the display part until it was published, the administration said. This is solely the responsibility of the publisher.
«We expressly and decidedly distance ourselves from the expressions used in the private advertisement and the inhumane ideas on which it is based. A criminal complaint was submitted against the author of the advertisement and the publisher.
The roofing company was initially not available for a request. Mayor Kretzschmar said that he personally does not know the head of the company. He also did not intend to contact him. “We’re talking about a seasoned man who actually has to know what a statement he makes.”
Left speak of incitement and file criminal complaint
There were also criminal complaints from the ranks of the left – against the company, the publisher and the city administration. “This is sedition, the advertisement is clearly anti -Semitic and racist,” emphasized the Saxon state party leader Susanne Schaper. The city administration could not talk itself out by knowing and is responsible for only the editorial part. Advertisements in an official gazette would be assigned to the city. “We expect the city administration to change its processes immediately and ensure that nobody can place inhumane content in the sheet.”
City chief Kretzschmar emphasized that the city administration had no insight into the part with the privately financed. The publisher has now made a requested statement. “The publisher also apologizes for the mistake and also sees that this was an irretrievable mistake and will then take measures to ensure that something like this is no longer possible in the future,” said Kretzschmar.
Demonstration planned against racism
Rainer Böhme from the Buntes Sebnitz alliance fears that the incident will continue to diverge the city society. There will also be people who applauded the master roofer, Böhme told the German Press Agency.
Sebnitz wants to host the “Saxon Day” this September. In any case, what happened is counterproductive, said Böhme. The left call for a demonstration against racism for Monday.
