The car supplier Mahle made a profit again. Nevertheless, the group fights with a decline in sales and announces further job cuts.
Stuttgart – “Mahle asserts himself in a difficult market environment.” The large Stuttgart car supplier published this message on Tuesday (April 15) on his website. In other words, the company is doing well. It has long been clear that Mahle had to report a decline of 12.8 billion euros to 11.7 billion euros in sales.
The group also announced that they had made a profit of 22 million euros in the 2024 financial year. In 2023, the group result was still 26 million euros. What were the reasons for the results? According to Mahle, the weak markets in Europe and North America are particularly responsible. The company also cited the “sluggish” demand for electric vehicles from China.
Mahle reacted to cushion the result
However, the development of the market is reflected in almost all business areas. A downward trend is not only obvious not only in the combustion business, but also in electronics and mechatronics as well as in thermal management. Mahle cushioned the damage, at least with regard to the numbers. For this purpose, the company made 4,700 jobs eliminated worldwide. The company also sold business and real estate.
Mahle expects a decisive year 2025
Again SWR reports, Mahle boss Arnd Franz announced further massive job cuts. He did not give details. However, he made it clear that 2025 would be a crucial year for the group, in which two thirds of the jobs hang on the internal combustion engine. In 2035 there should be a combustion engine whether the EU is holding on it, but is in the stars.
68,000 people worldwide work on Mahle, around 10,000 of them in Germany. Also in Baden-Württemberg the group is still represented, even if three works have now been closed. Last year reacted Mahle on the slump in the order situation for short-time work, which were also affected by locations in Baden-Württemberg.
