Almost four months after the former Bundesliga professional Guido Burgstaller was seriously injured in an assault, the striker is sensational in front of his comeback. “Today is the first time that I look forward to flying,” said Burgstaller, who suffers from fear of flying, before departure opposite the crown. The perpetrator initially pushed Burgstaller and then hit him to the ground with his fist, the fall resulted in a skull base break. The alleged attacker was arrested in December.
Burgstaller, who played in Germany for 1st FC Nürnberg, Schalke 04 and FC St. Pauli, had announced that it would like to end his career at the end of the season last summer. Before that, the Austrian wanted to return to the pitch again – now it could be so.
“He has the release, can play. I don’t take tourists with me,” said coach Robert Klauss: “‘Burgi can give us a boost, compensate for things with his routine, that is valuable to us.” However, use from the beginning is excluded. “After four months I can’t be the old one,” said Burgstaller.
