The Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime 4 looks damn good.
Coming games that still appear for the first Nintendo Switch will also be playable on the Switch 2. This usually works through the downward compatibility of the console. However, some titles also receive a “Switch 2 Edition” – so they get significant improvements. A direct comparison at Metroid Prime 4 now shows how strong they can fail.
A Switch 2 game with a few upgrades can look that much better
The official has the fact that there will be improvements for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond website reveal by Nintendo. Among other things, it says that the Switch 2 edition will support the mouse control of the new Joy-Cons and offer “better resolution, textures and loading times”.
The direct comparison shows how strong these differences really fail. The YouTube account of the ElanalisteBits has uploaded a video that compares the graphic of the switch and switch 2 version directly.

The improved textures in particular catch the eye here. Where the rocks in the switch version are rather gray blobs, they offer significantly more details and depth in the Switch 2 version.
The lighting and shadow are also much better – the landing ship now darkens the ground under itself and fire illuminates the surroundings more realistically. In addition, the effects have also been improved.
In the comments under the video, too, many fans are surprised at how big the difference between the two versions actually turns out. One of the top comments from user Domini-X9R summarizes the mood:

Other fans also praise how well Metroid Prime 4 still looks on the eight -year -old switch. Even if the game is certainly anything but pretty on the hybrid console, it still gets everything out of outdated technology.
In usual, we cannot recognize all improvements from Metroid Prime 4 on the Switch 2 in the video. The comparison on YouTube only runs in 60 fps. In fact, the Switch 2 edition of the game can even reach 120 FPS in performance mode and then runs with 1080p in TV mode or 720p in handheld mode.
In addition, both the performance and quality mode (which reaches 60 FPS at 4K in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode) offer HDR support.
