Audiobook makes Nuremberg woman a star overnight

The books by the American Rebecca Yarros are a huge success-and have also made a native of Nuremberg to the star of the scene.
The Nuremberg Dagmar Bittner is the voice of the first three volumes of the “Empyrean” series by US author Rebecca Yarros and now a real celebrity in the scene herself. Volume one was the most successful audio book at the BOOKBEAT streaming service in 2023, for the first two there was the Lovelybooks Community Award. Since 2019, Dagmar Bittner has also been the most heard spokeswoman for Bookbeat.
So far, three novels of the series created in five volumes have been released: “Fourth Wing” and “Iron Flame” in 2023 and “Onyx Storm” in January 2025. In Germany, the books are marketed under the keyword “flamed”, whereby in the scene it is more likely to be spoken by the “Fourh Wing” series, Bittner explains to the “Nürnberger Nachrichten”. The novels are aimed at a target audience between the ages of 20 and 30 and are part of Romantasy’s literary actions – a mixture of romance and fantasy.

“Fourth Wing” is about the young violet who actually wants to be written, but is forced by her mother to be trained as a dragon rider at Basgiath. There she meets the mysterious Xaden, who looks after her life. The whole thing is garnished with explicit sex scenes.
Bittner has been a spokeswoman for a long time, among other things for advertising spots, films and podcasts. She has been working in the audio book area since 2014. For “Fourth Wing” she canceled her own information after another project, otherwise she could not have put the order in time. Because the hearing frames take a long time. Volume one comprises over 25 hours and was recorded in her apartment in downtown Nuremberg.
At that time, the 44-year-old could not suspect that this decision was probably one of the best in her professional life. Because the series of novels literally went through the ceiling and with it the audio books. She does not yet know whether Dagmar Bittner will also read the fourth volume, which is to be released at the earliest in 2026. Author Rebecca Yarros tends to let rigoros die loved figures. However, the fact that main character Violet disappears forever seems rather unlikely.
It is also unclear whether Bittner already knows about Violets and thus also her future. The Nurembergian had to sign a confidentiality agreement and probably only receives the printed edition of the book on the day of publication.
