The Brazilian football star shows itself in the jersey of the left -wing FC St. Pauli – and harvests violent criticism. What political contradiction is behind it.

Brazil’s football star Neymar caused excitement with an Instagram post. The 33-year-old presented his 229 million followers in the FC St. Pauli jersey-and immediately received criticism on social networks.

Numerous users pointed out the contradiction between the appearance in the shirt of the Hamburg club and Neymar’s political past. FC St. Pauli is known for its anti -fascist, anti -racist and antisexist commitment, while the striker in the Brazilian presidential election campaign in 2022 openly supported the right -wing candidate Jair Bolsonaro.

Political explosiveness is increased by the fact that a charges by the Brazilian General Prosecutor’s office was only raised against the former President Bolsonaro in February because of an attempted coup d’état.
