Despite her conviction for four years in prison, Marine Le Pen remains determined to start in the presidential election. A replacement candidate is currently not up for debate.

Despite her conviction, the French right -wing populist Marine Le Pen records four years in prison and a ban on candidacy in her planned presidential candidacy. “I will fight, I won’t just be eliminated,” Le Pen told the broadcaster TF 1 on Monday evening. She will do everything to “consider a candidacy in the presidential election,” she emphasized.

Le Pen rejected a candidacy by the 29 -year -old party leader Jordan Bardella. “Bardella is a trump card for the party. (…) I hope that we will not play this trump card earlier than necessary,” said the parliamentary group leader of the right -wing populist party National (marginal). “I will exhaust all the means there. There is a way, even if it is narrow.”

A court in Paris had judged, among other things, that Le Pen was excluded by all public offices with immediate effect for five years. The court saw it as proven that Le Pen as chairman of the party RN, among other things, misappropriated more than four million euros from the European Parliament funds in order to pay employees of the party in France.
