An 86-year-old drove to the city cemetery in Gerlingen (Ludwigsburg district) by car, rolled over there and was seriously injured. After the accident, the car stopped in the cemetery, the police said. Several dozen graves were therefore damaged.
According to the information, the man had stuck to a confluence with the cemetery and suddenly accelerated his car. The car broke through a wooden fence, caught fire and only came to a standstill in the cemetery in the middle of the graves. The emergency services took the seriously injured driver to the hospital. The cause of the accident was initially unclear, as was the amount of the damage incurred.
