(CNN) – Two more senior Hezbollah operatives were killed in an Israeli strike in southern Beirut earlier this week, the Israeli military said Friday, after earlier announcing that the strike killed one of the group’s top commanders.
Tuesday’s attack that killed the head of Hezbollah’s rocket and missile force, Ibrahim Qubaisi, also killed his deputy, Abbas Ibrahim Sharaf Ad-Din, and another senior operative in the missile unit, Hussein Hany, police said. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement.
Hezbollah confirmed that Qubaisi was killed in an airstrike following the Israeli military’s initial announcement on Tuesday.
In its statement Friday, the IDF also said that a senior Hezbollah operative from the group’s surface-to-surface missile unit, Fuad Shafiq Khaz’al Khanafer, was killed in a separate attack, without specifying which day.
Israel claimed to have killed several senior Hezbollah officials in recent days during attacks on Lebanon. This Thursday, the Israeli army claimed to have carried out “precise strikes” in Beirut that killed the head of Hezbollah’s air command, Muhammad Hussein Srour.
Hezbollah confirmed Srour’s death on Friday, but did not specify the circumstances.
