Does Inzoi need developed NPCs like in the Sims?
With Inzoi, publisher Krafton was able to draw many fans of life simulations like the Sims a few days after the release. The early access title is promising, but also has a long way to go. A change that some fans now want affects the NPCs that live in the world of Inzoi.
The Sims and Inzoi go different ways
Specifically, it is about the lack of elaborated characters that would bring some movement into the currently still lifeless world of Inzoi with a fixed name, a given family history and characteristics.

Figures elaborated by the development team with which interacting can be interacted accordingly would “feel like a real part of the world”, says User U/Mihaelkeehl77 on Reddit.
There were particularly families in the Sims 2 and 3 whose stories were further retired in small in-game events. For example, fans were able to experience modeled weddings, separations and all sorts of interpersonal whispering by the development team if they were looking for it.
Inzoi goes a completely different way here. Instead of given characters in the neighborhood, Krafton relies on AI tools such as the so-called smart zois. The feature is intended to ensure that Zois in the city behave in keeping with its character traits and react to their respective circumstances.
That sounds like an interesting idea, but does not work satisfactorily at the moment. Smart zois are far from behaving like real people. Therefore, the idea is not far from that figures with elaborated Lore can give much more the impression of a living world.
Other fans come to this conclusion in the comments. “Inzoi has families with lore in the description, but the relationships and gameplay do not reflect that,” it says.
A fan goes even further: “Sims 2 had such great stories that I didn’t feel like I had to create my own Sims. I could simply skip the whole process and play with the existing Sims”.

A question of perspective
But there are also voices that disagree. “I never dealt with the existing characters. I usually interact with the random characters. So I don’t mind,” says a comment.
“The Sims 2-Lore is very popular, but not all players are interested in it or need it to have fun playing with the game. Many of us like to think of their own lore,” says someone else.
In addition, some find out that the Sims is not the perfect counterexample at this point. While Sims 2 and 3 were still able to go out with funny stories, Sims 4 was missing in the eyes of several fans of noteworthy families.
What do you think? Could Inzoi tolerate elaborated characters or do you see a strength in the fact that the game fully relies on your own stories?
