In words disseminated by Betis himself, Félix Garreta narrates what happened to him: «The week before that weekend (the accident) that was on April 27, I played a match with Amorebieta and they took me red. Therefore the next weekend could not play and decided to go home to celebrate my birthday with my family and friends, but that same day I fainted down some stairs and hit my head. It was because of what doctors left me in an induced coma. It was a fairly ugly situation. One of the first things I said was to ask my parents where I was, because I was not aware of absolutely anything. I was not aware that it had happened or what day we were.
«After being 20 days in coma I managed to wake up, but I wasn’t aware of anything. When a week went by I began to be aware of things and that was when I started recovering, ”adds the young footballer of 21 years.
Getting ahead was not easy for Catalan who remembers that “I honestly did not know to what degree it had happened to me.” «When I woke up, the first things I did was to look when the preseason started. After a few days I began to be aware of what had happened to me. Those first months in which I couldn’t play football yet there were days that was fine and others that was very angry with myself. Things that I could easily make very basic cost me a lot of effort or I couldn’t do them directly. Remember for example what I had eaten … I spent half an hour and I didn’t remember. I could greet one and the ten minutes not remember. Those who spent it worse were my family and close friends. I wasn’t aware, I didn’t know what was happening to me, but they saw him and the truth that they have taken him enough bad, ”he recalls.
«The doctors told them that my life was in danger. I had two possibilities: wake up or stay in a vegetable state. They said it was a miracle, but that I could start making normal life and, after a while, they were already calmer. I see my family, my partner and friends the same, but they don’t see me the same, they have more love and appreciation. I am incredibly happy. I can’t do anything else with my family than to thank him, ”adds Felix during the interview.
«Playing football again was something that went through my head. I thought I couldn’t play anymore, running or basic things, and it was very ugly. Not only I thought about it.
