“The ugliest city with lots of soul” – a well -known actor explains his surprising love for the cathedral city in an interview. What he appreciates about the Cologne.
Hannes Jaenicke loves Cologne – even though he describes the city on the Rhine itself as “the ugliest city in Germany”. “Cologne is the only city in Germany in which I can withstand it,” the actor and environmental activist told the “Express”. “The people of Cologne are relaxed, do not stress around, are in a better mood and do not complain all day.”
The 64-year-old had returned to Cologne for a reading together with ex-Höhner front man Henning Krautmacher. For the project of the “Run & Ride for Reading” Foundation, he traveled extra 34 hours from Indonesia, where he is currently working on a documentary. “To be honest, I notice every excuse to get to my former hometown,” revealed Jaenicke, who used to live in the Südstadt Cologne.
Despite his love for Cologne, the actor now lives in Bavaria: “I sit in Söder-Land and always have to ignore politics to endure it somehow,” said Jaenicke about the “Express”. The move was only made for professional reasons. His conclusion: “If I would choose a city in Germany, I would always come back to Cologne.”
