EPFO A big news is coming for crores of employees under (Employees Provident Fund Organization). The government has made a major and strong change in the system for the convenience of employees, which will make their work much easier. Yes, employees under EPFO ​​will now be able to take advantage of the universal account number (UAN) and the service related to it only through face verification. Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandavia gave this information on Tuesday. Apart from this, the minister informed that 6 districts of Bihar have been fully notified under Staff State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

Umang app will work

Mandavia said that EPFO ​​has launched advanced digital service to allot and activate the UAN of Provident Fund through facial verification. This is a major and important step towards contactless, secure and fully digital service delivery for crores of members of EPFO. He said that now employees can generate their UAN using Aadhaar Face Authentification Technology (FAT) with the help of ‘Umang’ mobile app.

Employer will also be able to generate new employee’s UAN with Umang app

According to the Union Minister, any employer (company) can use UAN app for its new employee to create a UAN through Aadhaar FAT. Not only this, employees who already have UAN numbers, but have not yet activated their UAN, they can also go to the Umang app and activate their UAN number. He said that in the coming days, Digital Life Certificate will be started from Face Authenticesh Technology in cooperation of ‘My India’ to provide service to EPFO ​​pensioners at their door itself.

24,000 employees of Bihar will benefit ESIC schemes

In the last financial year 2024-25, EPFO ​​has allotted a total of 1.26 crore UAN. However, only 44 lakh UANs of these were activated. On the expansion of ESIC in Bihar, the Union Minister said that now 27 out of a total of 38 districts of Bihar are fully notified and 11 districts are partially notified. After the notification about 6 districts, this number will increase to 33 districts. These 6 new districts include Araria, Saharsa, Aurangabad, Banka, East Champaran and Gopalganj. With this decision of the government, 24,000 newly insured employees will come under the purview of ESIC’s social security schemes.
