Why does nobody take care of Gene Hackman’s body?

Exactly 30 days ago, Hollywood was in shock: Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found lifeless. But there are still no details of the funeral.
On February 26, 2025, the message about Gene Hackman’s death caused horror: the Hollywood star and his much younger wife Betsy Arakawa – he was 95, she 63 years old – were found lifeless in her villa in Santa Fe. The body had already been used, and there were also many inconsistencies. Today it is clear: the couple was already dead in the house for at least a week before it was found.
The corner of the corpse is now exactly 30 days ago. One month has passed – and nothing happened with regard to the funeral. This is reported by the US magazine “TMZ” and relies on the official authorities in New Mexico. Accordingly, the corpses of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy have not yet been picked up. The office of the responsible investigative authority confirms that the list of not picked up deceased is updated online every Monday – and the names of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa continue to appear on the list.
Supplements are often organized promptly after the death of the deceased. In this case it seems to be going differently. On request, however, the authority has that it is “not unusual” that corpses will not be picked up for a month after their death. Nevertheless, the long time is amazed. It remains unclear what reasons there are. It is possible that the family still meets funeral preparations or made the last plans.
Gene Hackman had three children – a son, Christopher, and two daughters, Leslie and Elizabeth. The sisters had commented in the press after their father’s death. However, Christopher does not. In the past, Hackman had spoken about his difficult relationship with his children and admitted that he hadn’t had much to do with them during the time when Chris grew up. It was only in later years that he got closer to his son.
The Hollywood star is said to leave a high million assets. He bequeathed his wife’s entire property – since she died of him before him, since the current investigations, his children could receive the inheritance. Read more about this here.
The corpses of Gene and Betsy Arakawa were discovered on February 26 in their house in Santa Fe. One of her dogs was also found dead nearby. The initial investigations showed that Arakawa died of a rare viral disease on February 12, while genes succumbed to heart disease and advanced dementia around February 17 or 18.
