Jahn Regensburg is at the bottom of the table of the 2nd Bundesliga, the descent can hardly be prevented. But there is no giving up – and this is bad news for Schalke 04. Fortuna Düsseldorf meanwhile moves up to the relegation place for promotion.
SC Paderborn – Fortuna Düsseldorf 1: 2 (0: 1)
Fortuna Düsseldorf used the competition of the competition and is increasingly dreaming of promotion to the Bundesliga. The team of coach Daniel Thioune prevailed 2-1 (1-0) in the chasing duel of the 2nd league at SC Paderborn. With the success, the Fortuna climbed fourth with 47 points, only due to the poorer goal difference are the Düsseldorfers behind the third in the table SV Elversberg.
Danny Schmidt (40th) and Dawid Kownacki (52nd, penalty) met for the guests who won an away game for the first time since the end of January. Fortuna’s gap to second -placed 1. FC Köln is therefore only four, which is five points on the leader Hamburger SV. Paderborn, who, after an assault of Santiago Castaneda (63.), still had the connection through Ilyas (78.), conceded the third defeat in a row and missed jumping on the relegation place with his own victory.
Paderborn was the superior team in the first half. Düsseldorf’s goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier prevented the lead with two parades in the 22nd minute. This was achieved shortly before the break Schmidt for the Fortuna, which had hardly appeared on the offensive until then.
The second round began strange: After a corner, Düsseldorf’s defender Jamil scored the supposed 2-0 – but referee Robert Kampa had already decided on a penalty after a foul from Laurin Curda to Jona Niemiec. Kownacki converted confidently, shortly afterwards Paderborn’s Castaneda saw the red card. But even with one man less, the home team remained dangerous, even goalkeeper Manuel Riemann stormed forward and gave a brilliant 25-meter shot.
Prussia Münster – Karlsruher SC 1: 1 (0: 1)
Another turbo gate: for Prussia Münster, the immediate return to the 3rd league moves threateningly. After the competition’s victories, the promoted team did not get over a 1: 1 (0: 1) against the Karlsruher SC and thus slipped onto the relegation place.
In the duel of the Bundesliga founding members, KSC attacker Louey Ben Farhat scored his first second division goal after 12.6 seconds. Marc Lorenz scored with a controversial penalty (73.) for the Prussia. Two weeks ago, Münster had conceded a goal in the basement duel against Eintracht Braunschweig (1: 1) after 8.5 seconds.
Shortly after the rapid tour of the 18-year-old Farhat, Dzenis Burnic missed the great opportunity for the second KSC goal (6th). The Karlsruhe also remained superior afterwards and won other top chances. The hosts only became stronger in the last ten minutes of the first round and also came to good occasions during this phase.
In the second half there was hardly anything besides hard duels. The hosts tried, but could not cause danger. The KSC only managed the lead. This passivity punished Prussian captain Lorenz from the point. The penalty decision by referee Robin Braun (Wuppertal) was more than questionable.
Jahn Regensburg – FC Schalke 04 2: 0 (1: 0)
No pace, no ideas, no points: Schalke 04 made the next sluggish appearance in a completely messed up season. At the bottom of the table Jahn Regensburg, the royal blue deserves 0: 2 (0: 1), Christian Kühlwetter (21st) and Dejan Galjen (90.+3) met for the home side.
And Schalke? Four days after Frank Baumann’s commitment as a sports director, the fans who traveled with them once again disappointed. The team of coach Kees van Wonderen continues to bump around in the no man’s land of the 2nd league. And it remains: the Schalke have never won in Regensburg.
Schalke remained harmless on the offensive and presented himself vulnerable on the defensive. So cool weather made Regensburg deservedly in the lead after a corner, Schalke keeper Justin Heekeren cut an unfortunate figure. Just two minutes later, the 24 -year -old made another mistake who almost led to 0-2 – but Tim Handwerk’s subsequent ball went just by.
With increasing playing time, Schalke tried to get a little better into the game – but the team no longer brought about a long -range shot from Tobias Mohr (70th).
