People left home and went to safe places

The fire, which started on Friday in South Gyongsang province, took 275 hectares i.e. 680 acres of area till Saturday afternoon. Two firefighters who were trying to control this fire lost their lives. According to officials, more than 200 people had to leave their homes and go to safe places.

Declared area affected area disaster area

Acting President Choi Song-Mok had directed to make every effort to control the fire before sunset. In view of the fierce fire situation, the South Korean government on Saturday evening declared the affected area a disaster area.
