An exploded battery of an e-scooter has triggered an apartment fire in an apartment building in the Stendal district of Uchpringe. A total of 20 people had to be brought to safety on Wednesday evening, the police said. Two children were taken to the hospital for suspected flue gas poisoning. According to the information, a 34-year-old had connected the battery of his scooter to the charger in his apartment.
The affected apartment had been confiscated and sealed, it said. All tenants were able to return to the house after the end of the extinguishing work, only the four residents of the fire apartment were not. According to the first estimates, the property damage is in the middle five -digit range.
