Kristoffer Olsson suffered from severe brain disease. After rehabilitation, he continues to work on a return to the soccer field. He makes an important decision for this.
After his serious brain disease, football professional Kristoffer Olsson with the Danish Club FC Midtjylland agreed to mutually agreed to resolve the contract and already said goodbye emotionally. The 29 -year -old Swedish international wants to get closer to his family in his Swedish homeland Norrköping. At Olsson, an extremely rare inflammation of the brain vessels on several small blood clots in the brain had been diagnosed a year ago.
During the half-time break at 0-2 on Sunday evening against Brøndby IF, Olsson was celebrated again by the Midtjylland fans. Visibly touched, he presented himself with a hoodie and winter short coat, clapped the curve and even got a gift basket from the supporters.
“First and foremost, I continue to dream of being a soccer player. To be able to train fully and feel that I can contribute my part to the team,” said the 47-time international, who now wants to work on a possible comeback at his youth club ifk Norrköping. “I feel progress every week and I am hungry and more motivated than ever.” The fact that he can now train close to his family and his friends means a lot to him.
Olsson suddenly lost awareness at the end of February last year, whereupon he was brought to the Aarhus University Hospital. There he had initially been artificially ventilated, while medical experts were looking for a diagnosis for his acute brain disease.
He was later moved to a rehabilitation center for neurological diseases, where he gradually regained his motor and verbal abilities. In the summer of 2022, Olsson switched to FC Midtjylland for the second time in his career.
