In Germany, the producer prices in March succeeded. They declined by 0.2 percent in the year, as the Federal Statistical Office announced. In February the prices had still increased 0.7 percent. Analysts had expected an increase of 0.4 percent for March.

Compared to the previous month, producer prices fell by 0.7 percent, as the Federal Office continued. Here analysts had only expected 0.1 percent with a slight decline.

The decisive factor for the weak price development was therefore a decline in costs for energy. In March it was 3.6 percent cheaper than a year ago. Compared to the previous month of February, energy prices fell by 2.8 percent.
