Discover Oqtopus, an open source system for quantum computers

The Japanese University has collaborated with several partners; Fujitsu Limited, Systems Engineering Consultants (SEC) and Tis Inc .; To develop Oqtopus (Open Quantum Toolchain for Operators and Users). Available on Their github pagethis project is certainly one of the most ambitious collaborative initiatives ever launched in this area.

As you can see on the technical diagram below, Oqtopus revolves around three layers which pile up to form a bridge between the user and the quantum processor. The front layer (Fronend Layer) offers developers tools (Quri Parts) program their applications. In the middle, the Cloud layer (Oqtopus Cloud, Fronend and Admin) orchestra users, data and calculation tasks, to intelligently manage the queues and the priorities.

In the background, the Backend layer mobilizes Oqtopus Engine (the quantum operations control engine) and the calm server to control quantum operations, before the instructions were translated into qdash pulse sequences (tool that simplifies the flow of calibration and observation work of qubit) and the Gateway Device (interface between the Oqtopus Engine). Two essential components to ensure effective and precise communication between software and quantum hardware. Without QDASH and the Gateway Device, the interaction between software and quantum hardware would be considerably hampered, if not impossible.

The most informed will not have trouble noticing the first oqtopus advantage: its modularity, which allows the different layers to evolve independently. An aspect that will facilitate updates and adaptation to different types of quantum equipment. Previously, universities and companies had to develop complex software internally to make their quantum computers available via the cloud. With this bone, entities around the world therefore have a standardized and open solution: a giant step for the democratization of quantum computer science.
