Police officer confirmed death

An IPS officer died in road accident in December 2024

In December 2024, an IPS officer, who was going to take charge for his first deployment in Hassan district of Karnataka, died in a road accident. According to the police, Harsh Vardhan (26), a 2023 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, was a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The driver lost control of a tire of a police vehicle near Kittane of Hasan taluk and the vehicle collided with a house and tree on the roadside.

Police had said that Harshvardhan was going to Hassan to report on duty as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holynarsipur. Harshvardhan suffered serious head injuries and died during treatment at the hospital. At the same time, the driver suffered minor injuries.

The statement of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was also revealed on this accident. He expressed condolences to the officer’s family. He said on his X handle that it was sad to hear about the death of trainee IPS officer Harshvardhan. It is very sad that such an accident occurred when he was going to take charge as an IPS officer. This should not have happened when years of hard work was paying off.
