Da hike: A great news is coming for millions of government employees of the country. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday approved an increase of 2% in dearness allowance (DA) for government employees and 2% for pensioners. After this latest increase, the dearness allowance of central government employees will increase to 55 percent. At present, employees are getting 53 percent dearness allowance on salary. Giving information about this, Central Ashwini Vaishnav said that 55 percent dearness allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2025.
48.66 lakh employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners will benefit
Keeping in mind the current inflation, the government has approved this increase in the dearness allowance of the employees. This decision of the central government will benefit about 48.66 lakh government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners across the country. With this new change, the dearness allowance given to employees will increase from 53 percent to 55 percent. Along with this, salary will increase before the 8th Pay Commission in the salary of central government employees. The decision to increase this new increase in both dearness allowance and inflation relief will affect the treasury every year by Rs 6614.04 crore.
DA was last extended in July 2024
Let us tell you that this increase is according to the approved formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. The government had earlier increased the DA of central government employees by 3 percent in July 2024. After which the dearness allowance received by the employees had increased from 50 percent to 53 percent.
