In a highly dramatic game in Hamburg, the events in the final phase overturn. It goes into extra time – and remains exciting until the last minute.
Werder Bremen is in the DFB Cup final of women and meets FC Bayern Munich. The green-whites prevailed 3-1 (0: 0, 1: 1) in the semi-finals in an exciting and competitive Nord derby in the semi-finals at Hamburger SV.
Sophie Weidauer (81st, 117th) became the match winner for guests, who had had outnumbered Saskia Matheis since the 53rd minute after the 53rd minute. Verena again made everything clear in the 120th minute. Sarah Stöckmann forced the extension for Hamburg in the 89th minute.
The 57,000 spectators – never before had so many spectators visited a women’s game in German club football – created an impressive mood in the Volkspark from the start. The active fan scenes of both clubs were also represented in the stands. On the field, the outsiders from Hamburg, who play in the 2nd Bundesliga in front of almost 400 spectators in the 2nd Bundesliga, presented themselves at least at eye level.
However, only the sovereign goalkeepers Inga Schuldt (HSV) and Livia Peng (Werder) could really be characterized. Both thwarted good chances and ensured a performance -friendly draw for the break.
The second half started with a shock for the somewhat inhibited Bremen women. Matheis came too late against the HSV talent Lisa Baum and rightly flew off the pitch. However, the hosts hardly managed to come to compelling qualifications. On the contrary: Weidur used an evil mistake from Schuldt, who misjudged a back pass, to 1-0 for Werder.
Shortly before the end of the regular season, the Hamburg women struck back. After a free kick, captain Stöckmann dusted the strong tree to the crossbar. In the extension, Weidauer made the decision.
