There is a dying man on the floor. The police arrest five craftsmen nearby – there is said to have been a violent argument beforehand.
Dramatic scenes took place in Berlin on Wednesday morning. According to the public prosecutor, witnesses describe an act of violence that could be observed from balconies: A group of craftsmen is said to have killed a 38-year-old with a baseball bat on the sidewalk in front of a school at around 8 a.m.
According to the newspaper “BZ”, there was probably a dispute in a kiosk in Berlin-Reinickendorf beforehand. The 38-year-old insulted one of the craftsmen when this milk poured into his coffee. The kiosk owner then referred the later victim to the store.
The man initially disappeared, but apparently couldn’t let the matter be based. According to witnesses, he returned with a machete and started the craftsman in front of the kiosk. Two colleagues from the craftsman are said to have been in between with chairs.
A little later, a woman saw several men behind the mechanic attacker. Then there was a final escalation of violence. The 38-year-old was so seriously injured that alarmed police officers and paramedics tried in vain to revive him. He died at the scene.
The police arrested five men aged 24, 37, 39, 50 and 57 years as a suspected perpetrator near the crime scene. According to initial knowledge, victims and suspects did not know each other beforehand, the public prosecutor said.
The body of the killed man should now be autopsied. The murder commission is determined. On Thursday, it is to be decided whether arrest warrants are requested against one or more of the arrested men and whether they are in custody.
The police union (GdP) said: “Unfortunately, we are experiencing more and more in the capital that disputes are carried out by violence and the use of deadly weapons. We have great hopes that the crime will be enlightened without gaps.”
