In order to be able to reach the country’s climate goals in the traffic sector, from the perspective of Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann Additional measures. “We already have measures in the works,” said the Greens politician in Stuttgart. Hermann did not give any concrete suggestions. Above all, you will see where you can add and that you also implement the measures.
The traffic sector is making as poorly reducing CO2 emissions as no other sector in Baden-Württemberg. The area had no savings at all compared to 1990.
“Unfortunately, some things that would really work are not enforceable politically at the moment,” said Hermann. As an example, the minister also cited the introduction of a truck toll on state roads and on municipal roads or the introduction of a speed limit. In addition, the country’s options for action are limited. “The main actors are at the European level and at the national level,” said Hermann.
Associations warn immediately program
Numerous associations and organizations recently asked the state government to reach additional measures to achieve the climate goals in Baden-Württemberg. Grün-Schwarz must recognize the impending misconduct of the goals and put on an immediate program, according to an open letter.
Scientists had already predicted a misconduct of its climate goals for the country last summer. Accordingly, the intermediate goal is not reached until 2030. Until then, the country only reduces CO2 emissions by 53 percent. However, the climate protection law provides for a reduction of 65 percent compared to 1990 as the target brand.
The state government’s expert council also called for an immediate program from the state government in autumn. The Climate Protection Act provides for additional measures if an “impending significant target deviation” is determined. So far, the country has not submitted a program.
