Cassandro is world champion in skeet

It is an Italy with four podiums that leaves the platforms of the Dr. Karni Shooting Range in New Delhi (India), home of the finals of the Shooting World Cup.

In the men’s skeet, Tammaro Cassandro and Gabriele Rossetti dominated the proceedings, securing first and second place respectively. An extremely hard-fought final act saw the Campanian prevail, concluding his performance with a score of 57/60. The Florentine finished in second place, forced to give up by a narrow margin due to an error made on the last target (56/60). Completing the podium was the host Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (43/50).

The one to achieve success in women’s skeet, therefore, was the stars and stripes shooter Samantha Simonton (56/60), who in the final series of ten shots managed to get the better of Diana Bacosi, second with a score of 54/60. On the lowest step of the podium was the Frenchwoman Lucie Anastassiou (42/50) while Martina Maruzzo finished in fifth place (25/30).

Finally, in the women’s trap, four errors in a row in the penultimate series jeopardized the chances of victory for Erica Sessa, who also finished in second place with a score of 39/50. Raising her arms to the sky was Alessandra Perilli from San Marino (first with 45/50) while third place went to the Turkish Safiye Temizdemir (33/40). For Italy, the sixth place of the reigning Olympic silver medalist Silvana Stanco (17/25) should also be recorded.
