He rents 1200 cars in Trento, resells them and then runs away. Businessman arrested in Taiwan and extradited

The scam and then the escape. Five years as a ghost, hiding in Taiwan. Until arrest and extradition to a European Union country. Thus ended his inaction Salvador Alejandro Llinas Onate47 years old, Spanish originally from Palma de Mallorca who before all this story managed a car rental company in Trento.

It was there that in 2019 he had rented more than 1,180 cars and then made them disappear, illegally resold to unsuspecting buyers, accumulating considerable profits that had guaranteed his escape. Because then it was he himself who disappeared. The last time he was spotted in Taiwan, wanted with a European arrest warrant and accused by the Trento prosecutor’s office of fraud and fraudulent bankruptcy.

He obtained permanent residency on the Republic of China island in 2021 and took over the management of five companies, including two luxury restaurants in an affluent neighborhood of Taipei.

Shortly before, four years ago, investigations began and a maxi-operation by Trento financiers uncovered the international scam of the Autoclick company, managed by the 47-year-old Spaniard alone. The military had seized 800 cars worth over 14 million. And fourteen people were found to be involved in various capacities for complicity in aggravated embezzlement, aiding and abetting, money laundering and failure to return tax returns.

The Trento prosecutor’s office had requested the indictment of the director of the company – in bankruptcy since 2019 – on whom a European arrest warrant was pending. In recent days Llinas Onate was arrested and extradited to an undeclared country of the European Union.
