Case related to Jaipur bomb blast, court convicts four accused

A special court on Friday convicted four accused in a case related to the 2008 serial blasts in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur. These convicts will be convicted on 8 April. This decision has been pronounced by Ramesh Kumar Joshi, a special court judge of bomb blast cases. The court has convicted Shahbaz Hussain, Sarwar Azmi, Mohammad Saif and Saifrahman.

Flaws proved in these sections

In the live bomb case of Jaipur bomb blast, the court ruled 17 years after the bomb blast incident. The court has convicted Sarwar Azmi, Shahbaz, Saifurrahman and Mohammad Saif under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, illegal activities (prevention) Act (UAPA) and Explosives Substance Act.

In December 2019, the lower court sentenced Sarwar Azmi, Mohammad Saif, Mohammad Salman and Saifurrahman to death in the Jaipur blasts case. At the same time, the fifth accused Shahbaz was acquitted in the benefit of suspicion. Those who got the punishment challenged the sentence in the High Court. A bench of the High Court acquitted all four on March 29, 2023 and also confirmed the decision to acquit Shahbaz Hussain.

71 people died

In fact, the whole matter is related to a bomb found in Chandpol, Jaipur on 13 May 2008. The bomb was defused by security squads. On 13 May 2008, there were a total of eight bomb blasts in Jaipur city. After this the ninth bomb was found near Chandpol Bazaar, which was defused. There were bombs one after the other at Manak Chowk Khanda, Chandpol Gate, Badi Chaupar, Chhoti Chaupar, Tripolia Gate, Johri Bazaar and Sanganeri Gate in Jaipur. 71 people lost their lives in these bomb blasts and 180 others were injured.
