Many times, even after shedding money like water on films, there is no miracle. Films are released and they do not get the audience luck. Something similar happened with a film released in 1991. There were not one or two big superstars in this film, the makers on the film had shed money like water in those days, but still the film did not succeed. We are talking about ‘Shanti Kranti’. Shanti-Kranti, made in a budget of 10 crores, was a pan India film made in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The film had three superstars of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna and Juhi Chawla. But even after this, the film fell at the box office.

The stardom of three superstars did not work

Kannada actor and filmmaker V. Ravichandran had high hopes from this film, as he wrote its story, he was its director and also a producer. Ravichandran played the lead role in the Kannada version of the film. In the Telugu version, Nagarjuna and Rajinikanth in Tamil and Hindi were seen in lead roles. At the same time, famous artists like Juhi Chawla, Khushboo and Anant Nag were in important roles.

‘Shanti Revolution’ was prepared in a huge budget

The film was made in a budget of 10 crores, which was much higher according to those days. Ravichandran left no stone unturned to make this film grand. 50 acres of land was hired for the film’s climax and also put a lot of money on the set of the film. The shooting of the film began in 1988, which took 2 years for the makers to complete. After post production work, the film was released in 1991. However, the film could not get any special response from the audience.

Ravichandran suffered heavy losses

Earlier, ‘Ajuba’ had the title of the most expensive film, in which Amitabh Bachchan was in the lead role. However, when ‘Shanti-Kranti’ was released in theaters, the makers and artists remained disappointed. Even after heavy budget and big actors, the film did not get a good opening in any language. The effect of this was that the film could not recover its budget later. The film caused a lot of damage to Ravichandran. Due to this, he became bankrupt, but even after heavy ups and downs, he continued his journey with cinema.
