Failure to vaccinate the elderly against respiratory viruses, underlines Long-lived Italyhas a strong economic impact on the National Health Service (NHS) and also on the welfare system. A recent analysis conducted by Altems Advisory – Spin off of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, highlighted that the country system, and therefore not only the NHS, could have benefits in terms of recovery of tax revenue of up to 500 million euros , a saving in social costs of around 3 billion euros a reduction in lost production by up to 10 billion.

Covid, 867 new cases and 10 deaths in Tuscany in seven days
And even the Covid virus partially rears its head: 867 new cases and 10 more deaths from Covid were detected in Tuscany in the last week according to the Region’s periodic report. The latest victims were 4 in Florence and its province, 3 in Pistoia, 1 in Massa Carrara, Lucca and Livorno and bring the total deaths to 12,659 since the beginning of the epidemic. The 867 new cases – 382 confirmed with molecular swab and the others 485 with rapid test – brings those detected in the region since the beginning of the pandemic to the total of 1,666,442 and are approximately 250 more than the detection of the previous week.
Viral recoveries – due to negative swab – grow by +0.04% (there were 663 people, an absolute number almost 200 units lower than that of new infections) and reach the total quota of 1,652,218 (99.1% of total cases) since the beginning of the pandemic. The current positives are 1,565. Among them, 212 people are hospitalized (+31 units the balance between admissions and discharges compared to the previous week, equal to +17.1%), of which 6 are hospitalized in intensive care (+2 units the balance between admissions and discharges equal to at +50%). The other 1,353 patients are in isolation at home, “because they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or are symptom-free” (+163 units compared to the previous week, equal to +13.7%).
