The cause of death must therefore still be clarified in both animals. For this purpose, specialists from the European Zoo Association EAZA and experts from other zoos were in contact, said zoo veterinarian Andreas Bernhard.
Gorilla group depressed
According to the information, the gorillas are under strict medical and animal care control and care. The development is observed closely. “The group is depressed due to the losses and looks tense,” said Bernhard. “We cannot yet estimate whether there are also medical causes.”
The people involved as well as Animals would have to process the losses, says Junhold. The four gorillas cannot be seen for visitors in the coming days depending on the situation. There should be support for the employees if necessary.
