Álvaro Pombo (Santander, 1939) has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Madrid, Bachelor of Arts for the Birkbeck College in London and member of the Royal Spanish Academy. The writer has been awarded the Planeta Award. Nadal Prize. His novels and stories books have been translated into numerous languages. In 2024, he was recognized with the Miguel de Cervantes Award.
It is one of the most recognized and unique voices of the contemporary Spanish narrative. He began his literary career with the poems Protocols (1973), Published during your stay in the British capital.

Elected member of the Royal Spanish Academy in 2002, he took possession of the “J” armchair in 2004 with the speech Likelihood and truth. In 2024 he was distinguished with the Miguel de Cervantes Awardthe maximum award of Spanish letters, in recognition of their literary career, their stylistic originality and its firm intellectual commitment.
