The first 16 migrants intercepted at sea arrive in the Shengjin hotspot

The 16 migrants intercepted at sea, selected and placed on the Navy ship Libra, will arrive in Albania in the early hours of this morning. They will be the first to experience accelerated border procedures in a third country. Everything is ready in the Italian hotspot set up at the port of Shengjin. Here the 16 (10 Bangladeshis and 6 Egyptians) will be subjected to a health screening and identification procedures. Once the activities have been completed, during the day, the migrants will be transferred by bus to Gjader, the other site under Italian jurisdiction, where a reception center for asylum seekers with 880 places has been set up, a CPR (144 places) which will host the people destined for expulsion and a 20-place penitentiary for those who commit crimes.
