Simona Autieri and Davide Carrera in the depths of Lake Garda: it’s a world record

Freediving ‘big numbers, in Riva del Garda on the occasion of the Open Outdoor championships organized by Fipsas. Four world records, two of which for disabled people.

In the body of water in front of the port of San Nicolò in Riva del Garda, Simona Auteri, Ilenia Colanero, Davide Carrera and Fabrizio Pagani achieved extraordinary world championship performances. The first, from Genoa, in constant weight with fins managed to reach an altitude of -76 meters while Davide Carrera, from Turin, achieved a score of -92. With the collaboration of the Asd Gruppo Sommozzatori Riva del Garda the Cmas (World Confederation of Underwater Activities) has approved or achieved records. “Incredible – the two new champions say in unison – because the ‘fresh water’ element is very different from marine water. We reached significant depths, culminating months of intense training. We won’t stop here.”

Together with them, Ilenia Colanero, an athlete from Lanciano, and Fabrizio Pagani from Terni set a new record, this time in fresh water.

Riva del Garda was the scene of other exciting performances among the ‘able-bodied’ such as those of the freediver from Verona Pietro Antolini and the freediver Giacomo Sergi from Trapani, both authors of -77.00 m and of a well-deserved silver medal ex aequo in the constant buoyancy with fins.
