New zealand PM visits insurat: New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Navy Chief Rear Admiral Garin Golding visited the Navy Dokyard in Mumbai on Thursday at the latest Indian Navy’s latest indigenous destroyer INS Surat. According to a release issued by the Navy, the Navy’s Western Command Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh welcomed Luxon and Golding on INS Surat.
Navy joins Navy in 2025
Luxon and Golding were informed about the complex design of the warship, state -of -the -art technologies and tremendous abilities. INS Surat is a guided missile destroyer vessel designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau, while the construction is done by Majhgaon Dock Shipbuilders. It was included in the Navy in January 2025.

Luxon visited INS Surat at a time when Royal New Zealand Navy’s ‘HMNZS Te Kha’ is on a trip to Mumbai from 20 to 24 March and is visiting the Western Command headquarters of the Commandor Roger Ward Navy’s Commander Roger Ward Navy.
Discussion on naval cooperation
According to the Navy release, these trips are important steps towards advancing relations between the Royal New Zealand Navy and the Indian Navy. Golding met Vice Admiral Singh during a destroyer vessel visit and discussed strategic naval cooperation, after which he was given brief information about the role of the command. (Language)
