An Arizona man was arrested after he murdered and beheaded his mother in their Glendale home.
Alejandro David González25, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Teresa De Jesus Cruz Rubio49 years old.
According to media such as USA Today, the victim was supposed to go to a family gathering to celebrate her birthday, but she never showed up. Instead, police responded to a report from a person who called 911 to report finding a dead family member.
When officers arrived at the apartment located near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road they found the front door open. The shower was on and there was blood in the areaSergeant Bryan Hoskin of the Glendale Police Department said at a news conference.

He never made it to his birthday party
Relatives told authorities that Rubio’s birthday would have been Saturday. The victim’s sister spoke to Rubio shortly after 3:30 pm and asked him to come to a family gathering later that night, which was actually going to be a surprise birthday party, and although he agreed to go, he never showed up.

Used methamphetamine
Documents indicate that during an interview with detectives, Gonzalez said his mother had recently picked him up from jail, brought him something to eat and dropped him off at his apartment. He then reportedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine with a man on a bicycle he had just met.
According to the documents, González said the man stabbed his mother and then forced him to do the same. Police say there is currently no evidence that any other suspects were involved in Rubio’s death, but detectives are investigating the allegations.
Gonzalez had a history of methamphetamine use and mental health issues, and his crimes escalated over time.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Gonzalez was arrested last week for criminal mischief after allegedly breaking a window at a gas station. However, they did not have enough evidence to prosecute the case and sent him back to the Phoenix Police Department, where he was eventually released.
