There are no official figures or estimates, but the stocks have been approaching for 60 years and are now at a high level.
One of the main reasons is the rainy years 2023 and 2024, in which the Animals would have found enough to eat all year round. The intensification of agriculture also contributes to this, such as the cultivation of corn.
Wild boars are omnivores, “from the root, engellingen, maggots, to planting, take everything you can get,” says Ehlert. They went into autumn relatively saturated and therefore had a slightly larger one in spring.
The places where wild boars are currently appearing-Heiligensee, the Allendeviertel in Treptow-Köpenick or Lichterfelde-Steglitz or Zehlendorf-Süd-are not unusual. But there is almost no wild boar that lives in the settlement area of people. “We always have this transition to the field landscape or the forest.” In some areas, the animals would have got used to finding enough hiding places and food.
In principle, one does not have to be afraid of wild boars. “Wild boars are peaceful”, even if they look big, powerful and scary. “I’ve been doing this for 25 years and I am not aware of a single case where wild boars have attacked people.” There are exceptions in injured or tight -driven animals or when encounters with dogs.
Baches get freshlings
“Now is the time when the browns get young,” says Ehlert. In order to get young, the female animals liked to go out of the forest because the probability of encountering free -range dogs in Berlin forests, especially in dog exits. In human settlement areas, they often find more hiding places, for example on undeveloped or private land.
“There are clear signs here when a wild boar suddenly occurs alone, tears off branches and thus builds a kind of pile of travel. Ehlert urgently advises to feed the animals in a targeted nor unsolicited way.
