Heavy rain, thunderstorms – and lots of wind. An uncomfortable autumn day lies ahead in the north. The weather service warns.
The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official warning of continuous rain in parts of Bremen and Lower Saxony for Tuesday. According to the DWD, rainfall amounts of between 25 and 40 liters per square meter can be expected between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. “The rain will occur with varying intensity,” the warning says. Larger rain showers are expected in Bremen from the afternoon. The north of Bremen is exempt from the warning.
Then and also in the evening, the situation in parts of Lower Saxony could worsen even further: In the east, the constant rain will be intensified by heavy showers or thunderstorms, and on the coast, residents will also have to prepare for strong gusts of wind. The DWD predicts wind speeds of between 55 and 70 km/h, and even gusts of up to 80 km/h on the islands. However, these are expected to subside on Tuesday night.
The weather forecast for the next few days remains mixed: rain and clouds are expected on Wednesday, although it will become increasingly clear in the north as the day progresses. Temperatures reach highs of 14 degrees.
For Thursday, the DWD is forecasting continued clouds and some rain in Lower Saxony, while it is expected to remain largely free of precipitation in Bremen. It could even be sunny at times. The maximum temperatures are between 12 and 15 degrees.
The weather situation should calm down by the end of the week. For Friday, meteorologists expect a sunny and dry day with highs of 14 to 16 degrees after the fog or high fog has cleared.
