The Dresdner SC volleyball players have made the sensation and now dream of the double. The team of coach Alexander Waibl won the third and decisive play-off semi-final on Wednesday at the favorite defending champion Allianz MTV Stuttgart 3: 1 (25:18, 23:25, 26:24, 25:21) and has been back in the final for the first time since 2021.
Third double tangible
Now the Elderädterinnen can get the seventh championship title and the third double in the club’s history. Already on Saturday, the Elderstädterinnen will meet the preliminary round winner SSC Palmberg Schwerin in the final round in the “Best-of-Five” series.
The Dresdeners started very concentrated, dictated in the first set with powerful surcharges, a stable acceptance and outstanding defense. In the second section, the defending champion, who had to forego his exceptional exceptional Krystal Rivers, fought much better into play and an exchange of blows developed at eye level.
In the crunchtime, the Waibl protégés gave a three-point lead with some slight mistakes from the hand and the MTV managed to compensate for the sentence. The Stuttgart women initially determined the game in the third round, but once again the guests proved their comeback qualities. After a 10:17 deficit, they fought back, proved nerve strength in the narrow final phase. They defended two opposing set balls and took their first chance themselves.
In the fourth set, the guests played more stable and found better solutions in the attack. Diagonal attacker Marta Levinska was the most successful scorer with 19 points and received the Golden MVP medal.
