US presidential election: “New York Times” recommends election of Kamala Harris

The editorial board of the US newspaper New York Times gave a recommendation for the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris a good month before the presidential election in the USA. “Kamala Harris is the only choice,” writes the newspaper’s so-called Editorial Board in an opinion piece published Monday. The Republican candidate Donald Trump, on the other hand, is unsuitable.

In surveys, the two opponents are almost neck and neck. The election will take place on November 5th. In the USA it is common for newspapers to give election recommendations. The New York Times emphasizes that the Editorial Board is a committee of opinion journalists and is independent of the newsroom.

US newspaper: “Voters must stand up to Trump”

The newspaper wrote that it was difficult to imagine a more unworthy candidate for the office of US President than Trump, who has now been convicted of criminal offenses. “He has proven himself morally unfit for office.” Trump has proven that he is temperamentally unsuitable for a position that requires qualities such as wisdom, honesty, empathy, courage, restraint, modesty and discipline – qualities that he lacks most. “If American voters do not stand up to him, Mr. Trump will have the power to inflict deep and lasting damage on our democracy.”

“For this reason, regardless of any policy disagreements voters may have with her, Kamala Harris is the only patriotic choice for president,” it said.
