Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric has increased during the campaign for the 2024 presidential elections, including attributing social problems to immigrants, pointing out that immigrant gangs are supposedly taking over the cities.
In the same vein, Donald Trump said that, if he wins the presidential elections, will order federal authorities to “liberate” the town of Aurora, Colorado, which is supposedly “taken over by immigrant gangs.”
At a rally at the doors of Trump Tower in New York, focused on the accusations against his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris on immigration policy, the businessman once again painted Aurora as the scene of the “immigrant invasion” of criminals that he denounces in his campaign.
“I will send federal law enforcement, a big group of people, a tough group, to liberate Aurora. The governor is petrified by the situation, they are Venezuelan gangs with better equipment than our military,” said the politician, who urged him to “do what he has to do.”
one day before, Trump had already accused Kamala Harris of exacerbating border problems by allowing what he described as “hostile takeovers” of several cities.
From his perspective, he stated that: “Kamala should have closed the border years ago and we would not have had hostile takeovers of Springfield, Ohio and Aurora, Colorado,” which generated surprise with additional sensationalism, saying that “they are actually entering with a massive machine gun type equipment.”
Despite Trump’s statements, the mayor of Aurora himself, Republican Mike Coffman, recently said that “the impression that the city was invaded by criminal gangs of immigrants and Venezuelan gangs is not real.”
Coffman said Colorado City has a crime problem, but it is not an immigration problem.
Even so, the magnate reiterated some measures that he plans to apply if he is president, such as a mass deportation, eliminating “sanctuary cities” or reimposing Title 42, which allowed immediate expulsions of migrants for health reasons during the pandemic.
