With the argument that four years ago he had been wrong in this regard, Donald Trump decided to cancel an interview allegedly agreed with the program “60 Minutes” and even demands an apology from the television network CBS News.
In 2020, the New York tycoon was interviewed by Lesley Stahl for the program “60 Minutes.” However, feeling uncomfortable, he decided to end the dialogue before the agreed time expired.
In order for something similar to happen again, Trump chose not to accept a new interview.
During a session answering questions in Milwaukee, The Republican presidential candidate addressed the reason behind the cancellation.
“They said the laptop from hell was from Russia. “I said it wasn’t from Russia, it was from Hunter (Biden),” he said regarding the scandal that would later come to light related to Joe Biden’s son.
With this, the 81-year-old Republican made it clear that he does not forget those who at some point he considers to be his political enemies.
Faced with the change of plans of the former president, CBS News issued a statement setting its position towards its viewers.
“After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign decided not to participate.
For more than half a century, 60 Minutes has invited Democratic and Republican candidates to appear on our broadcast as Americans head to the polls.
This year, both the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to sit down with 60 Minutes“, indicates part of the letter where it is anticipated that the plan to present at least the interview with the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will continue.
In this regard, Steven Cheung, communications director for the Trump campaign, took to platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to reject the version that the proposed interview with the New York magnate had been confirmed in advance.
“Fake news. 60 Minutes clamored for an interview, even after they were caught lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020.
There were initial discussions, but nothing was ever scheduled or finalized.
“They also insisted on doing live fact-checking, which is unprecedented,” he wrote.
