JD Vance, Donald Trump’s deputy, is going into a TV duel today. His wife Usha is supporting him in the US election campaign. What is known about the possible Second Lady?
Will Donald Trump win or will Joe Biden remain President of the USA? This will become clear after November 5, 2024. James David “JD” Vance is entering the race as the Republican vice presidential candidate and therefore Trump’s number two. Today he wants to convince potential voters in a TV duel against Kamala Haaris’ deputy Tim Walz. If the Republicans prevail in the upcoming election, Vance’s wife Usha would be Second Lady – she was a Democrat before her marriage.
In July, at the Republican convention in Milwaukee, Vance decided to become Trump’s running mate. This meant that his wife came into the public eye for the first time. Usha Vance, who was born Chilukuri, has Indian roots and grew up in San Diego, California. Today’s legal representative met her husband while studying law at the US elite Yale University, as the US television channel CNN reports. She graduated summa cum laude.
Their wedding took place in Kentucky in 2014 in an interfaith ceremony. Because JD Vance is a Catholic and his wife is a Hindu. Together they have three children named Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel and live in Cincinnati, Ohio. If the Republicans win the election, the Vances would be the Second Family and would traditionally move into the Naval Observatory in the US capital Washington, DC.
Even before her marriage to Vance, the current Republican was registered as a Democrat, as the New York Times newspaper reports. Now she seems to be completely behind her husband’s politics. She probably gave up her job at the renowned law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson.
“Usha has informed us that she has decided to leave the law firm. (…) Usha was an excellent lawyer and colleague, and we thank her for her years of work and wish her the best in her future career,” quoted CNN a statement from her former employer. Usha Vance previously served on the Supreme Court.
