USA ordered and authorized this Saturday the departure of non-essential workers from their Embassy in Lebanon and warned that it could impose new restrictions to the journey of US personnel for reasons of security in the midst of the Israeli offensive and the death of the leader of Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah.
In a statement, the State Department highlights the “situation of security volatile and unpredictable in Beirut” and orders the evacuation of non-essential workers hired directly by the US and family members of diplomatic mission officials.
- “They could impose restrictions of journey additional US personnel under the responsibility of security of the Head of the Mission, with little or no notice due to greater problems of security or threats,” completes the note.
The US maintains a “do not travel” advisory to Lebanon and has urged his citizens to leave the country immediately in recent weeks due to the risk of crime, terrorism, riots, kidnappings and the “risk of armed conflict”, which has precisely intensified in the last week.
