The discovery of their bodies at home in Santa Fe in New Mexico had shocked the whole world last February and the investigation has just answered the latest questions. A succession of unfortunate events therefore led to the deaths of Gene Hackman and his 65 -year -old wife, classic pianist Betsy Arakawa, a few days apart.
The autopsy had concluded that the actor’s wife French Connection had died before her husband from a pulmonary syndrome in Hantavirus. Gene Hackman, 95 years old, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and a heart condition, he had not been able to survive without help and care provided on a daily basis by the one who shared his life since the mid -80s.
The Hantavirus is transmitted by urine and saliva of rodents and were obviously numerous at the home of the late couple.

The environmental service noted, during a property visit on March 5, the presence of several nests, especially in the three garages of the couple and in two agricultural vehicles. Rodent’s faeces were also found in two adjoining houses and three garden sheds.
The couple’s area was made up of eight buildings. If several traps were arranged everywhere, the main building where Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa lived, was “clean and without sign of rodent activity”, specifies BBC which relays the official report.
In addition, shortly before his death estimated on February 12, Betsy Arakawa had done research on Google linked to the COVID-19. This is the study of his online history by the Santa Fe police that the details the New York Times.
She notably asked, on February 10, from the search engine if “the covid can cause stunning” or if there is a link between “flu and bleeding from the nose”. The pianist had ordered an oxygen bottle on Amazon to help him breathe and also canceled her appointment with a therapist, adding that she had “flu-like/covid symptoms” despite a negative coronavirus test.
The death of Gene Hackman would have occurred around February 17 and the couple’s bodies and one of their dogs had been discovered by maintenance agents on the 26th of the same month. The spouses were buried in the strictest intimacy last weekend in Santa Fe, where they had lived since their marriage in 1991.
