Creative Aurvana Ace Mimi: A lot of technology
- Mimi: This part of the model name indicates a cooperation with the Berlin start-up Mimi Hearing Technologies. This has developed a process of how headphones can be adapted to your own hearing with a easily feasible hearing test. Creative has integrated this sound adjustment into the app for the Aurvana Ace Mimi, which distinguishes it from the previous one Aurvana Ace.
- XMEMS: From a further cooperation with the Taiwanese company XMEMS Labs, the soundpables come from Aurvana Ace Mimi. MEMS is generally the abbreviation for micro-electromechanical system and refers to tiny chip-based components. The special feature: they do not work electronically alone, but contain mechanical elements. For example, motion sensors in smartphones are built in this way. And small sound converter in the in-ear headphones, which, due to their construction, can reproduce very high frequencies. The little ones don’t have it with fat basses, so they combine creative with conventional headphone drivers. Such two-way designs are rarely found in the upper price ranges, for example also for professional-ears for stage use.
- Bluetooth Le Audio: This new variant of the widespread radio standard reduces the energy requirement for audio transmission. In addition, LC3 uses a new procedure for audio compression, which is intended to replace the more energy-hungry and yet poorly sounding standard codec SBC in the medium term. LC3 is already widespread in Android smartphones of the upscale class, for example from Samsung, Sony and Google.
- Auracast: With this also quite new Bluetooth expansion, a broadcaster can supply any number of recipients. This is planned, for example, for announcements at airports and trains, for audio guides in museums, for conferences or for cinemas. In the app for the Creative Aurvana Ace Mimi, the desired audio stream can be selected via an Auracast button, which can also be several language versions in the cinema in the future. In the private environment, for example, new televisions from LG and Samsung can be tone per Auracast Send to several headphones like the Ace Mimi.
- SXFI: This abbreviation or the long version Super-X-Fi uses creative for its self-developed space-sound optimization. This compensates for the fact that when the headphone playback is the same as the sound is created in the ear canals and the outer ears as well as the head and fuselage can no longer influence. However, the individual shape of the ears in particular is crucial for a spatial sound impression, so the SXFI technology forms its influence based on photos of the ears. The recording takes place with good instructions in a separate SXFI app.

The Aurvana Ace Mimi is light and comfortable
The common features that characterize good Bluetooth headphones come to this technology package at the creative Aurvana Ace Mimi: the earplugs can be easily gripped with scheduled stems, and they also ensure good weight distribution and safe hold. There is also a good fit and the low weight of less than 10 grams per pair. The associated boost box is slightly larger than at Apple and Samsung, but with its oval shape it fits well into your pocket. The control is carried out by finger tip on the outside, so that the phone calls can be easily accepted and the volume can be easily adjusted. The battery life is somewhat short for the extensive use in everyday life if the smartphone does not allow Bluetooth-Le audio mode. Then the creative Aurvana Ace Mimi ran in the test with a load 5:34 hours, so many competitors can do more, some come up with double runtime. With Le Audio it looked up much better, when 8:32 hours were on the clock. Charging is more likely to be charged, in both cases after ten minutes in the boost box, juice was back into the battery for an hour of duration. The can can be charged via USB-C, alternatively also on a loading area with wireless Qi technology.

In the creative app, the Aurvana Ace Mimi sound and noise damping can also be adjusted, and the MIMI listening test is also carried out.

The creative Aurvana Ace Mimi sounds really good
The technology package is impressive: the creative Aurvana Ace Mimi offer plenty of useful extras such as hearing adjustment. So far there are not too many applications for Bluetooth Auracast, but this should change in the future – and the creative is already prepared for this. The functionality with simple control, clear app and good voice quality is absolutely suitable for everyday use, even if the battery life should be a little longer. The greatest strength is the natural and finely resolved sound that does not have to shy away from a comparison in the price range below 200 euros. The innovative sound converter technique apparently pays off.
