The City Council will install 18 new stations in Bustom in 2026

Palma City Council will install in 2026 until 18 new stations in busturm that will be distributed between the promenade and the beach of Palma. This extension of the service will also be accompanied by up to 170 more electric bicycles.

Of these new stations, 13 of them will be in Playa de Palma, specifically From Sant Joan de Déu to Amílcar Street. The other five will be located on the Paseo Marítimo, From the Portopí tower to the fish marketcoinciding with the completion of the works.

The Mobility Regidor of the City of Palma has explained it in detail on Monday, Toni Deudero (Pp), which has presented phase four of the service extension project, whose investment amounts to 800,000 euros and is scheduled for 2026.

Currently, there are 33,758 registered users, 13,978 of which they are active, that is, they currently have a subscription or subscription. In addition, they occur more than 750 high monthlywith 60 percent of users who make regular use of the service, and more than 105,000 journeys per month. In 2024, more than 1.2 million journeys were recorded.

Phase three of extension, currently in execution, includes 16 new stations, as well as the installation of nine stations that will allow the service to reach the UIB. Specifically, three new stations will be installed along the route of the Valldemosa road and the Son Sardina neighborhood and a total of six new stations that will be located within the University Campus itself.

However, once phases three and four are executed, as well as the extension to the UIB, the service will have 129 stations, so that the extensions suppose, according to debt, a “powerful impact.”

Also, about half (47.5 percent) of the bicycle fleet will be electric and almost the totality (95 percent) of the network will be electrified stations, that is, in which electric bicycles can be loaded.

The extension is an increase of more than 50 percent in stations and more than 34 percent in number of bicycles acquired. As for electric bicycles, which are most successful in the service, the increase is 118 percent.

“The idea is to improve and that society is clear that this government team also bets on mobility, for sustainable mobility and bicycle mobility,” said the councilor, who recalled that the service has expanded to all residents of Mallorca.

In relation to the moratorium of fines, established until June, Deudero has pointed out that it will be analyzed how it works until that moment and it will be decided whether or not it is extended.
