Peter Zwegat died suddenly at the age of 74. His wife now reveals: She actually didn’t want to make the TV financial expert’s death public.
He had been living in seclusion from the public eye for a few years, then on Monday the news of his death was suddenly announced. Peter Zwegat died at the beginning of August at the age of 74 – suddenly and unexpectedly, according to a press release from RTL. The financial expert worked for the private broadcaster for years. In the popular format “Get Out of Debt,” he helped people get back on their feet financially.
After his last public appearances, Peter Zwegat enjoyed life away from the public eye with his wife. He had been in a relationship with Liane Scholze since 2003, and five years later they tied the knot in Zanzibar. But they had known each other for much longer: their paths crossed for the first time in 1991.
Now Liane Scholze is speaking out about her serious loss for the first time. The fact that she made her husband’s death public was obviously not a free decision, she says: “My husband valued his private life very much. Unfortunately, it was not in his interest for someone from his environment to override the work over my husband’s private interests , beyond his death.” She was “forced to act” and “now announce this publicly.”
She goes on to talk about how difficult the loss is for her: “Because it was sudden and completely unexpected for me, I haven’t processed it yet. With the publication on Monday and the numerous reactions, Peter died a second time today,” says the 60 year old.
